•    Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators for YA, middle grade and picture book writers and                    illustrators.
•    Published writer of children's books or a high school students who like to write might be interested in either        teaching in or attending the New England Young Writers' Conference at Bread Loaf, set in a meadow in Ripton, Vermont, near Robert Frost's cabin. 
•   Rutgers University publishes a list of journals that publish articles on children’s literature theory and criticism.
•   Kindling Words: a conference for those of us who aren't beginners (gasp!). Real talk about acceptance                speeches, money, marketing and more.
•   Writers Workshop at Chautauqua from the Highlights Foundation. I haven't been, but folks who have rave about it.
•   Spalding University's MFA in Writing for Children.  I'm on the faculty and highly recommend the program.
•   Indiana University offers a list of  Children's and Adolescent Literature Resources.
•   Publishing Central offers a list of children's book publishers.

For writers of all sorts:

• For writing literary criticism, here's a website that offers helpful links. 
• Spalding University's MFA in Writing offers concentrations in fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction (including memoir), playwriting, screenwriting, and writing for children.
• The Association of Writers and Writing Programs is a valuable resource.
• Random House offers a list of Literary Magazines accepting stories, poetry and nonfiction.
• Everyone should know Freytag's Triangle, derived from Aristotle's concept of unity of action.
• One site offers links to publishers of first novels.
• Fish Publishing offers good advice about getting published.
• The Vermont Studio Center offers the best of small town Vermont for writers and studio artists.
• I spent a month at the Julia and David White Artists' Colony in Costa Rica and can recommend it.
• For women writers, HedgeBrook has been praised by writer friends.
• NEA, National Endowment for the Arts, gives large literature grants to chosen artists.
